Who We Are

We believe that no one should go hungry, and together, we can tackle the root causes of food insecurity. Our goal is to promote sustainable nutritious food for everyone. Let's work hand in hand to make a lasting impact and ensure that no one is left behind.

The Lake County Food Share (LCFS) is led by five board members. Each is a “working” member. Combined, they provide strategic oversight of all funding and day-to-day operations, 365 days a year.

They are dedicated to leading the fight against hunger in Lake County.

Why? Because no one should go hungry.

MIKE NEWCOMBE

Vice Chair/Pantry Management

He oversees all things pantry such as recycling cardboard, restocking shelves, providing light maintenance inside and out, making monthly food pickups from the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank in Klamath Falls, Oregon, coordinates the pickup of Fresh Alliance donations from Safeway and recruits and trains volunteers to staff weekly distributions.

Oregon Food Bank’s Fresh Alliance provides produce and pantry staples to help meet needs of diverse populations designed to recover safe, edible grocery items (that might otherwise be composted or discarded) and offer them to people in need.

Mike was born in Lakeview and lived here for 76 years.

He serves with the Lake County Food Share because he saw the need and really enjoys volunteering in service to Lakeview and the entire Lake County community.
